Diggy

Growing up as the fourth eldest child in a family known for their last name, Daniel “Diggy” Simmons is proud to be a ”Simmons,” but wants to be known as Diggy the fashion & shoe designer, trendsetter & rapper in his own right. The charming middle son on MTV’s ‚”Run’s House,” who grew up as America watched now has the hip-hop community on the edge of their seats, calling him “the next hottest thing.” In 2010, Diggy teamed up with video director Phil The God to create a viral video that caught the attention of the entire music world. “Flow Stoopid,” a freestyle track over Nas’ “Made You Look,” received instant co-signs from rap heavy hitters ranging from Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West to Common, Quest Love, and Talib Kweli and quickly became an instant viral sensation. Diggy’s 15th birthday in March 2010, will always be one he’ll remember, as it was the day he inked a deal with Atlantic Records, with a management deal with Chris Lightly and Violator Management, following shortly after.

Diggy is well on his way to a successful rap and fashion career, as well as establishing himself in the lineage created by his father, Rev. Run and uncle, Russell Simmons. In April 2011, Diggy received the ultimate co-sign when XXL Magazine featured him in their ‚”Freshman Class‚” issue, one that’s dedicated solely to the stand out artists that have made a strong impact, and have the potential to take the buzz into a concrete placement in the hip-hop world. After releasing his debut single, “Copy, Paste‚” in May, the world eagerly awaits as he prepares his debut album. In addition to his first BET Awards nomination in the ‚”Young Star Award‚” category, Diggy took the stage at the 2011 BET Awards Pre-Show for the first live televised performance of ‚”Copy, Paste.” Showing no signs of slowing down, the companion video to “Copy, Paste” recently hit the top spot on BET’s “106th and Park.” Diggy will close out an incredible summer with a performance at the 2011 Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day US Open kick off event on August 27th at the legendary Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
